205 Thread painting
A hallmark of contemporary quilting is the use of thread in a new way. Instead of being content to only use thread as a way to connect pieces of fabric or stitch on an appliqué; today’s quilter uses thread as an embellishment.  Heidi Lund demonstrates free-motion dimensional leaves using thread, fabric and water-soluble stabilizer. Then it’s an easy trick for thread painting by first printing images on organza.  Then join Joyce Drexler for a thread painting featuring script and a nature scene.  Last up, Sue Hausmann uses software to add stippling to her quilt.

206 Fabric and Design
The use of fabric and design is at the heart of your quilting projects. First, Claire Fenton uses images to create a unique background or as she says: “one mans rust is another’s dyeing material.”  Then Andrea Bishop gives us a lesson importing scanned fabrics.  Next Tina Givens demonstrates a formula for color selection in your projects from appliqué to patchwork.  And finally Sue Hausmann shows us how to quilt a finished quilt with embroidery.

207 Trends
Learn what’s new in quilting on today’s show. First, learn how to combine needle felting with quilting for unique results.  Next Rayna Gillman shows us how to turn outdated, or “ugly” fabric into an original design by screen printing with masking tape resist.   Then Laura and Linda Kemshall return to explore how the world of digital stitching can be combined with traditional techniques for innovative quilt making.  Last up is Sue Hausmann; today’s machine technique is quilting with decorative stitches from the quilting menu.

208 Green
Quilting’s origin, in the use of scraps from clothing is the “original” green concept. In quilting today, this trend also manifests itself in different ways from recycling, to green products like bamboo batting, and even quilts with a green message.  First is a delicious way to recycle by using the foil wrappers from chocolates to embellish cloths.  Then Leslie Rego takes us on a fun, “flower power” journey through the sixties while we learn to fuse a large and striking floral design.  Next, Susan Lucky Shie has a tutorial on air brushing with an emphasis on writing.  Last up is tying a quilt using bar tacking over bows and yarn with Sue Hausmann.
